PingPing

Your destination has a direction. Hear it.

PingPing turns a destination shared from your favorite map into a live directional sound. Keep your eyes up, your map running, and your music playing.

No new map to learn. No account required. Just share a place and follow the sound.

Navigation you can hear

  • Hear whether your destination is to your left or right.
  • Receive a live cue as your position and phone direction change.
  • Continue using the navigation and music apps you already prefer.
  • Automatically stop the PingPing sound when you arrive.
  • Use Dynamic Island and Live Activity to see that PingPing is active.

PingPing is designed to complement Google Maps, Apple Maps, TMAP, KakaoMap, and Naver Map—not replace them.

How to use PingPing

  1. Find a destination in your preferred map app.
  2. Tap Share and choose PingPing.
  3. Wait while the shared destination finishes loading.
  4. Tap Share to PingPing.
  5. Follow the live directional sound while your map continues running.
  6. Tap Back to map whenever you want to return to navigation.

Google Maps users: A Google Maps short link may need a few seconds to load. Keep the sharing window open until the Share to PingPing button becomes available.

What does the sound mean?

  • A sound weighted toward the left means the destination is to your left.
  • A sound weighted toward the right means the destination is to your right.
  • The cue changes live as you move or turn the phone.
  • Auto off when arrived can stop the sound when you enter the destination area.

Help and troubleshooting

The destination did not update

Return to the map app and share the place again. When sharing from Google Maps, wait for the map preview and destination-loading step to finish before opening PingPing.

The direction seems wrong or is not moving

Allow Location and Motion access when requested. Move your phone in a figure-eight motion to help recalibrate the compass. Magnets and magnetic phone mounts can interfere with direction sensing.

There is no sound

Open PingPing and confirm that Ping every 2s is enabled. Check your volume, Bluetooth output, connected headphones, and Focus or Silent settings. If another app interrupted the audio, turn the PingPing sound off and on once.

Back to map opens the wrong app

Share the destination again from the map app you want to return to. PingPing remembers the source of the latest shared destination when the map provider includes that information.

The Lock Screen control asks me to unlock

This is expected in the current version. PingPing avoids taking over the system media session so that it does not interfere with music, podcast, and audiobook controls.

Help improve PingPing

PingPing is being improved through real-world testing. A short report is useful whether something went wrong or everything worked perfectly.

Please tell us which phone, operating system, and map app you used; whether the correct destination was selected; whether the sound pointed in the correct direction; and whether another audio app was playing.

Please do not submit passwords, payment information, precise home addresses, or other sensitive information.

Android beta

The Android version of PingPing is available for early testing before its Google Play release.

  • Version: YOUR_ANDROID_VERSION
  • Release date: YOUR_RELEASE_DATE
  • Minimum Android version: YOUR_MINIMUM_ANDROID_VERSION
  • SHA-256: YOUR_APK_SHA256_CHECKSUM

Android may ask you to allow Install unknown apps for your browser or file manager. Download PingPing only from neuromorphic.dev, verify the checksum shown above, and disable that installation permission again afterward if you do not normally install APK files.

This is beta software and may contain errors. Please report any incorrect destination or direction immediately.

Privacy

Effective date: 2026-08-11

PingPing works without creating an account.

Information used by PingPing

  • Your device location, heading, motion, and selected destination are used to create the live directional cue.
  • Shared map text, place names, links, and coordinates are used to identify the destination and return to the original map when possible.
  • Sound and feature preferences are stored locally on your device.

Local storage and network services

Destination and preference data are stored locally in PingPing and its iOS App Group container. When a shared short link or place name must be resolved, PingPing may connect to the relevant map or link provider and to Apple mapping or geocoding services. Those providers may receive ordinary network information, such as an IP address, under their own privacy policies.

What PingPing does not do

  • PingPing does not require a user account.
  • PingPing does not sell personal information.
  • The current app does not contain third-party advertising.

Feedback information

If you voluntarily use the feedback form, the form provider and PingPing developer will receive the information you submit. The information is used for product support, diagnosis, and improvement. Feedback is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes or applicable legal and security requirements.

Permissions and deletion

PingPing may request Location, Motion, Notifications, Live Activities, and background-operation permissions. These permissions can be changed in your phone settings, although related features may stop working. Local application data can be removed by uninstalling PingPing. To request deletion of feedback associated with your email address, contact novelcollide@gmail.com.

Safety

PingPing is a supplemental directional aid. It is not a substitute for turn-by-turn navigation, traffic signs, road rules, situational awareness, or emergency services. Directions and shared destination data may be delayed, inaccurate, or unavailable.

Do not interact with your phone while driving. Mount and use devices only where permitted by law. Keep audio at a level that allows you to hear traffic, warnings, and people around you. Stop using PingPing immediately if it distracts you or provides an unsafe instruction.
